Zoom Cloud Meetings is an Android app designed to be used in conjunction with the Zoom Meetings desktop application, allowing users to attend Zoom-based video conferences.

While more limited than the Windows application, this Android version of Zoom Meetings packs in a good amount of functionality. It's freely available for anyone, so there's no added cost for organizations who already use Zoom Meetings.

While the Windows application focuses more on file sharing and security, the Android version is intended for conferencing and messaging only. Using pre-buffering technology, Android users can see desktops in crystal-clear resolution in nearly real-time, even if they're on a slower mobile connection. They can also chime in at any time, either via their device's microphone or camera.

Android users may also engage in text chat with team members at any time. During a video conference, these messages will pop up to everyone else present at the conference. However, this feature is also available other times. If the user is a member of a team that regularly utilizes Zoom's "team chat" feature, they'll be able to stay up to date while on the go.

It should be noted that while the desktop application technically allows 1,000 people to be present, the Android app only supports video conferencing of 100 people or less. The reason for this is that most Android devices have less horsepower than traditional computers, and 1,000 participants being present in a meeting would likely overwhelm the device, rendering the app useless. While it would be nice to see this functionality be fixed to remain consistent with Zoom-based apps others are using, it's still a great step in the right direction.

One of the best parts about the app is that it still allows users to view and share files over mechanisms that work on Android. These include any file-sharing services that have apps popular on the Android marketplace. While Android users on external networks can't take advantage of the internal server file-sharing that Windows users can, there's still a way for them to get necessary files out to their teams.

This Android Zoom application also allows users to safely engage in conferencing while driving. Of course, it's unsafe to text or hold a phone while driving. That's why there's a "safe driving mode" that discourages users from physically holding their phones during conferences. However, especially when used with Bluetooth-enabled car systems, they'll be able to hear and participate in conferences just like they were in a phone call.

Pros:

Allows users to engage in conferencing over any connection (WiFi, LTE, 3G).
Lets users partake in almost every feature the Windows version does.
Has a unique "on the road" feature so those who are driving may safely participate.

Cons:

Video conferences are limited to 100 people when those with Android app are permitted to attend (rather than the default 1,000).
A few minor features are excluded from the Android app when compared to the Windows one.
